I think the dating dynamic throughout the country has changed pretty drastically over the last few years. We’re seeing a shift in dating culture, what people are willing to accept, and what they’re no longer willing to put up with. And I think it’s an important conversation that I’m glad we’re continuing to have.
However, I will admit that I slipped up and potentially may have redownloaded Hinge this week.
I had it for two days.
Sometimes you just get lonely. I’ll go back to being a strong, independent woman by next week.
Anyways.
The thing I noticed this time around was that I have so much going on in my life that I actually felt overwhelmed trying to schedule plans with anyone.
Which, I think, is an okay problem to have.
But it probably doesn’t make me a particularly easy person to date.
I got asked out on two dates almost immediately, and the next available evening I had to go on a date was six days later.
Six days.
Okay, well, a lot can change in six days. And quite frankly, knowing myself, I probably wouldn’t even want to go on the date by the time it finally arrived.
And then there’s the texting.
Am I really supposed to text back and forth with a complete stranger for six days before we even meet?
Because I simply do not have that in me right now.
So, naturally, I deleted the whole thing again.
And maybe that makes me an asshole!
But I think I’ve realized something about myself. It’s not necessarily that I don’t want to date. I would love to meet someone. I would love to have a relationship.
I just don’t know if I have the energy for the process of online dating right now.
And I think that’s okay.
I’ve spent so much time building a life that I genuinely enjoy. I have plans, hobbies, friends, goals, and people around me that I’m thankful to be spending time with.
And while I would love to share that life with someone someday, I’m not particularly interested in making it feel like another thing on my to-do list.
Anyways, I have a singles event Thursday.
Maybe we’ll meet at the grocery store.
Idk.
All my love,
Kaitlin
